Time outdoors and its positive impacts on creativity

· Creativity Tools

The benefits of nature to relieve stress, help us relax or to connect with the environment have been well documented.

There is more research underway to also uncover the power of the natural world to increase our creative capacity.

I undertook my own mini research over the past 2 weeks while staying near the Melbourne Botanic Gardens. Each afternoon I'd spend a few hours walking in the gardens and then hitting the books, writing and developing proposals.

I was refreshingly surprised at how focused I was when I returned to the desk after spending time outdoors. It may be I was more relaxed, or had some time to reflect on the issues at hand, either way its not a hard ask to spend more time outdoors if it has positive effects on the brain.
